Looking back at our water lab live in Düsseldorf and Vienna
A Double Dose of Data Security: Recap of Our Simultaneous Live Event
October 1st marked another first for us at water: we kicked off our water lab live data security event simultaneously in Düsseldorf and Vienna. Despite the additional effort it demanded from us, the format was well worth it: Full rooms at both locations, exciting presentations, and lively discussions. But most importantly, we achieved our goal to bring the IT security communities of Germany and Austria a bit closer together.

What stood out
First of all – and not surprising in the dawn of a new AI era – the interest in data security was off the charts. After all, it is nothing less than the enabler of AI-based use cases and agentic AI. Participants also emphasized how much they appreciated how we examined the topic from a wide variety of perspectives. For everyone who wasn’t able to join us: We covered everything from data security in the age of generative AI and LLMs, to the hidden danger of insider risk, to a best practice from the healthcare sector with our customer success story at Barmherzige Brüder.
Our data security pitch
Of course, we also took the opportunity to present our own take on the matter with our very own Data Security MVP (minimum viable product) approach. It’s a lighthearted and accessible approach to a topic that is, frankly, often regarded as tedious. We believe that the subject urgently needs a mindset shift: away from highly complex and lengthy implementations and toward an MVP with many quick wins. Here’s a very short overview of what we mean:
- An easy traffic-light labeling model
A simple, memorable taxonomy that sets shared rules for users and systems and classifies data into three clear categories. - A smart DLP setup with label-based protection
Tailored policies that align with your risk tolerance set smart boundaries instead of roadblocks, ensuring your business doesn’t slow down. - A clear path for insider risk control
Label-driven signals help you detect unusual and unexpected behavior and identify critical patterns to build a powerful response.
From here, it’s only one more step to our Managed Data Security solution. If you’d like to hear more about that, visit our website or hit us up. We’d be happy to get in touch and walk you through it!
Wrapping it up
Finally, we want to send a big “Thanks” to the organizers, speakers, and participants who joined us – whether in Düsseldorf or Vienna – on this eventful day. You all made it a very special experience for us. And keep an eye out for the next water lab live event – it's already in the making. Looking forward to meeting you there again!
