The Future is here: Microsoft Copilot for Security

Our Microsoft Copilot for Security workshop shows you how to improve your organization’s security with the power of AI

With the latest developments in generative AI, one thing is certain: artificial intelligence will change the world. But when it comes to cybersecurity, the question is: for better or worse? With FraudGPT, WormGPT, and many others, we have already seen how AI can be used to bypass modern security solutions. At the same time, however, the technology is already helping defenders to see more and act faster – significantly improving the protection of critical data and infrastructure. As a Microsoft for Security Private Preview Partner, we have been able to test and work with Microsoft’s latest product – and have already experienced the power of AI in our daily practice. The generative AI solution will now be generally available on April 1, helping security and IT professionals to extend their capabilities, collaborate more, see more, and respond faster.

How Copilot for Security can benefit your organization

First things first: Microsoft Copilot for Security doesn’t replace the security tools you currently use. Instead, it enables security and IT professionals to access, summarize, and act on insights from their existing tools more quickly. And it provides natural language guidance to increase your team’s efficiency and manage daily workflows. Studies have shown that “new in career” analysts using Copilot for Security are 44% more accurate in their responses and complete their tasks 26% faster. But even experienced security analysts working with Copilot were 22% faster at the common security tasks given to them, and they achieved these time savings while also increasing accuracy by 7%*. Beyond these gains in speed and accuracy, there’s more. During the early access program, Microsoft was able to identify four critical security operations tasks where Copilot is expected to deliver the greatest value:

  1. Incident Summarization

Gain context for incidents and improve communication across your organization by using generative AI to quickly distill complex security alerts into concise, actionable summaries, enabling faster response times and streamlined decision-making.

  2. Impact Analysis

Use AI-driven analytics to assess the potential impact of security incidents, providing insights into affected systems and data to effectively prioritize response efforts.

  3. Reverse Engineering of Scripts

Eliminate the need to manually reverse engineer malware and enable any analyst to understand the actions taken by attackers. Analyze complex command-line scripts and translate them into natural language with clear explanations of actions. Efficiently extract and associate indicators found in the script with their corresponding entities in your environment.

  4. Guided Response

Get actionable, step-by-step incident response guidance, including triage, investigation, containment, and remediation instructions. Relevant deep links to recommended actions enable faster response.

Protection at the speed and scale of AI

As mentioned earlier, Microsoft Copilot for Security is designed to complement your existing products and security solutions. For example, Copilot in Intune provides AI-powered insights that help resolve issues with the ease of natural language prompts and guidance. Integration with Microsoft Defender XDR and Microsoft Sentinel helps detect and resolve incidents faster, increasing the efficiency of the SOC. For Microsoft Purview, AI can be used to create concise alert summaries quickly and easily, for example, as part of Data Loss Prevention or Insider Risk Management.
